I have never needed to see what most other people are doing on github. I (and I think most people) use it as a platform for hosting collaborative projects and tracking issues on them. The only updates on projects I care about are ones I have made a commit or pull request to, or posted an issue on. I do not want any 'content' recommended to me whatsoever. Engagement != Productivity.
