👋 Thanks for reaching out @jamesw6811! Are you accessing the codespace through the browser or vscode desktop? There are limitations in browser that require us to use the https style urls, but if you use vscode desktop private ports, you should be able to use port forwarding with an |

I've chatted with the team a bit and using only the browser there isn't a
way to do it. As a webpage in the browser we are unable to start a local
server on your machine.
One option is to use the GH CLI to forward the port on your machine, while
using the browser as the code editor - you can use gh cs ports forward
<remote-port>:<local-port> -c <codespace-name> to do that. That will give
you a localhost http server to hit.
Another option would be to look into using something like ngrok or a
similar tool to tunnel directly rather than through codespaces port
forwarding.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting firebase function emulators up and running in Codespaces.
All ports forwarded seem to be served over https (their Local Address). Firebase Functions emulator can only serve over http, so it won't even try a request to an https server. Create-react-app and Firebase Hosting emulator are both able to serve over http, but when visiting their link it is served over https through the https Local Address.
Is there any way to get a non-https address from a forwarded Codespaces port? Or any examples of firebase emulators working in Codepsaces?
