I've just got the devcontainer working for our exercises demo (currently still in a branch https://github.com/SyneRBI/SIRF-Exercises/tree/devcontainer/.devcontainer). This essentially just pulls a docker image. This image has jupyterlab (and many other things) installed (via mamba). However, it is installed for the
jovyan
user. I run the devcontainer therefore asremoteUser: jovyan
. Everything works fine in the browser version using VS Code. However, if I want to open it in JupyterLab, I get a connection error.I did read
https://docs.github.com/en/codespaces/troubleshooting/troubleshooting-your-connection-to-github-codespaces#unable-to-connect-to-your-codespace-in-jupyterlab, but it doesn't seem to help. Maybe jupyterlab is run as
root
? But that would be impossible in our case (unless we create a different image of course). If you want to check how the docker image was built, its source is at https://github.com/SyneRBI/SIRF-SuperBuild/blob/master/docker/Dockerfile, (the
service
image) which calls various scripts in the same folder of that repo.Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
