Are you looking at the same branch when looking at GitHub? If you create a new repository and have it initialized with a README or license, the default branch will be called |

Sorry, I just saw you guys reply. I did git push origin master. I seem to
be able to commit and push changes but it never seems to show up in the
repo. When I go to the repo after I push a change, I see a notification
that says "master has recent push changes" and I get the option to compare
and pull request. When I click on that, it shows the actual files that
were changed/added but that's it. I don't see anything else in the repo
except the readme. Sorry I haven't really used Git that much and in a
while, not sure why this is happening.

Sorry I've been a bit busy and missed your reply. I appreciate the help. I
saw what you said but when I do a pull request I get this message and I'm
not sure what to do from here

How do I go about merging the branches?

The default branch on GitHub is now called main, *not* master. You likely
created a new branch called master (looking at your repo
MrinmoyBhaumik/ExercismPractice
<https://github.com/MrinmoyBhaumik/ExercismPractice>, I can see you've
done just that) and are thus committing to that branch. You can create a
pull request
<https://docs.github.com/en/pull-requests/collaborating-with-pull-requests/proposing-changes-to-your-work-with-pull-requests/creating-a-pull-request>
to merge that branch into main.
*Note: older repos may still have the default branch as master, but main
is generally used on new repos.*
Hope this helps!

Pushing to the remote repo should make the contents appear on GitHub! You may want to double-check that your remote upstream/origin URL is actually pointing at the correct repo. |

Repositories not showing Code after push
Question
Body
Hi,
I created a new master branch in my local and tried to push it to a new repository on github. For some reason I don't see the changes on github. It seems as if the push occured because when I put the command in again, it says everything is up to date. Not sure why I don't see any of the code in repository.
